How to get assisted conversions in Data Studio?

by Luuk

Can’t find Assisted conversions between the dimensions and statistics of the Analytics connector from Google? Then you’re not alone, because currently assisted conversions are not visible in the standard Google Data Studio connector. But don’t be disappointed, we found a way to get them in your dashboard! With the Google Analytics connector from Supermetrics you can add assisted conversions very easily.

The Google Analytics connector from Supermetrics

The first thing you need to do is to get a Supermetrics license. You can try the Google Analytics connector for free with the fourteen days trial! The next step is to open your Google Data Studio dashboard and click on “Add data”. Now a pop-up shows up on the bottom of the screen.

Select the “Google Analytics” connector by Supermetrics. Then you have to connect two things in order to make the connector work. The first step is to verify your Google Account which is connected to the right Google Analytics property. Then we need to connect the email which is used at the Supermetrics account. When set correctly, a new screen appears.

Choosing your Google Analytics property

Select the right view and segment in the rows below, don’t check the boxes. The main reason we want them to be unchecked: we don’t want editors to change the Google Analytics property in the Google Data Studio dashboard. Now you’re ready to add the connector to the dashboard.

Google Data Studio dimensions and statistics for Assisted conversions

To create the table in the first image of this blog you must use the following dimension and statistics:

Dimension:

  • Source / medium path (category 15: Multi Channel Funnels)

Statistics:

  • Assisted conversions (category 15: Multi Channel Funnels)
  • Assisted conversion value (category 15: Multi Channel Funnels)

It’s essential to use the right dimensions and statistics (same category) in order to make the dashboard work.

Extra tip: Use channel group paths to see your conversion paths

To create a table like below use these dimension and statistics:

Dimension

  • Channel group path (category 15: Multi Channel Funnels)

Statistics

  • Total conversions (category 15: Multi Channel Funnels)
